My Story

Welcome! I'm Dr. Joseph Adamchak, and I'm dedicated to helping you achieve your highest potential in movement, health, and performance. My journey in physical therapy and athletic training has been driven by a profound commitment to empowering individuals, from everyday athletes to elite military personnel and professional football players to overcome challenges and excel. This dedication is not just professional; it's deeply personal.

I hold a Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) from the University of Puget Sound and a Bachelor of Science in both Athletic Training and Physical Education from the University of Idaho, which provides me with a comprehensive and unique foundation for understanding the human body. Beyond my foundational education, I am dual board-certified as a Specialist in Sports Physical Therapy (SCS) and Orthopedic Physical Therapy (OCS). This means I possess advanced clinical knowledge and skills in diagnosing, treating, and preventing musculoskeletal injuries across all activity levels.

My professional experience spans nearly two decades and includes highly specialized roles that have shaped my holistic approach to care. I've had the privilege of serving as a Human Performance Physical Therapist for elite military units, including Marine Raiders at Marine Special Operations Command (MARSOC) and Special Operations Command Europe (SOCEUR). I also currently work part-time for the Buffalo Bills Football Organization as a physical therapist. This specialized experience allows me to apply the most advanced principles of injury prevention, rehabilitation, and performance optimization to a demanding, high-stakes environment. This expertise directly translates to my work with all my patients, ensuring they receive the same elite level of care to help them recover from injury and reach their own highest potential. In these demanding environments, I was instrumental in developing and implementing cutting-edge injury prevention and rehabilitation programs, managing complex orthopedic conditions, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure peak physical readiness for individuals operating at the highest levels. This experience has instilled in me a deep appreciation for robust, resilient human performance.

Prior to my work with Special Operations Forces, I honed my skills in diverse settings, including collegiate sports at the University of Puget Sound and a private orthopedic and sports rehabilitation clinic. This broad background has given me extensive experience in treating a wide spectrum of conditions, from post-surgical rehabilitation for knees, shoulders, and ankles, to managing return-to-sport progressions for athletes of all ages. My expertise extends to a range of manual therapy techniques, including Spinal Manipulative Therapy (SMT), soft tissue mobilization, Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Massage (IASTM), therapeutic cupping, and joint mobilization, all aimed at restoring optimal movement and reducing pain.

Beyond hands-on treatment, I am a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), which allows me to seamlessly integrate advanced exercise prescription and performance training into your rehabilitation journey. I believe in equipping you with the tools and knowledge to not only recover from injury but also to build lasting strength, resilience, and confidence.

My Personal Commitment to Performance:

My professional expertise is directly informed by my own dedication to endurance and physical challenges including:

Ultramarathon Finisher: I've completed a 100-mile run in 24 hours at the Tidelands 24 in North Carolina, along with 80-mile and 85-mile runs in Stuttgart, Germany.
Three-Time Ironman Finisher: I've successfully conquered the full Ironman distance at the Coeurd'Alene (CDA) Ironman and the half Ironman distance in CDA and Boise, ID.
Extensive Race Experience: This includes multiple marathons and half marathons. I've completed multiple Olympic Triathlons and Long Course Triathlons and ridden 200 miles in the Seattle to Portland bike ride twice, and taken on 100-mile Grand Chafee bike rides. I've also tackled challenge races like the Iron Viking Marathon (Belgium), Winterhell Obstacle Race (Germany), and multiple Tough Mudder obstacle course races..

These personal experiences provide me with unique insight into the demands of high-level activity, the challenges of recovery, and the dedication required to achieve ambitious goals.

Additionally I grew up in Northern Idaho were I developed my love of mountain sports including being a life long snowboarder, hiker, and fly fisherman.
